Protect your backups from ransomware with immutable mode, plus a redesigned dashboard and storage insights
Platforms: Windows, macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon), Linux
Overview
Relica 2.1.0 is a major release focused on protecting your backups from ransomware and making it easier to understand your backup health. The headline feature is Immutable Mode for Relica Cloud, which prevents anyone—including attackers with your credentials—from deleting your backups.
Ransomware Protection with Immutable Mode
Protect your backups from ransomware, hackers, and accidental deletion.
Your Relica Cloud backups can now be protected with immutable mode—a free feature that prevents anyone (including you) from deleting or modifying backup data until a lock period expires.
What's New
Immutable Backups for Relica Cloud
Modern ransomware specifically targets backups to prevent recovery. Even if attackers gain your credentials, they can't delete your immutable backups until the lock period expires.
- Go to Destinations and select your Relica Cloud destination
- Click Enable Protection
- Choose your lock period: 30 days (recommended), 90 days, or 365 days
- Your backups are now protected!
Why use this?
- Ransomware can't delete your backups — Even if attackers get your credentials, they can't wipe your backup history
- Accidental deletion protection — No more "oops I deleted my only backup"
- Time-delayed disable — If you need to disable protection, there's a waiting period. This gives you time to notice if an attacker is trying to disable it.
It's free! Ransomware protection is included with your Relica Cloud subscription at no extra cost.
Redesigned Dashboard
The dashboard introduced in 2.0.0 has been polished with:
- Health Ring — At-a-glance view of your backup health
- Live Activity — See backups running in real-time
- Storage Overview — Know how much space you're using
- Clearer Status Cards — Instantly see your subscription and trial status
Storage Size per Destination
You can now see how much storage each destination is using directly in the Destinations list. No more guessing about your storage usage!
Bug Fixes
- Fixed SFTP and WebDAV destination creation failing
- Fixed "Resume" button in paused backups warning
- Fixed backup pause toggle not syncing properly
- Fixed system telemetry not being reported (for those who opted in)
Upgrade Notes
This update will be automatically applied. No action required.
Existing Relica Cloud users: Your backups continue working normally. Ransomware protection is off by default—enable it when you're ready from the destination settings.
